I chose the topic physical education because over the years many students aren't getting physical education at school due to cuts. There are only a few elementary schools today that still have physical education teachers and have physical education time. We often wonder why kids these days are obese or why they are goofing off in class all the time. Both of these come from the lack of physical education. We need to change and bring back physical education!
Five most important things I learned:
1. Regular physical activity helps prevent disease.
2. Regular physical activity promotes lifetime wellness.
3. Quality physical education can help fight obesity.
4. Quality physical education can help promote lifetime physical fitness.
5. Quality physical education provides unique opportunities for creative activity.
If you can only review one resource go to the second resource because it tells you all about the benefits of physical education and it gives you a ton of statistics.
My favorite video is the 8th resource!
1. This is a video about a school that is seeing a decline in physical education. It also explains how physical education helps the body in every single student. I give this video a 4/5 because it really sums the whole concept of getting physical education back into schools by sharing an example and interview of a school in Columbia.
2.This is a great video! This video will give you lots of facts about how physical education impacts students. One statistic from this video is "the decrease in time spent in quality physical education has serious implications that can influence the health and well being of children." I give this video a 5/5 because not only does this video evaluate the impact of physical education but it also focuses on people who are inactive.
3.This video tells you the benefits of physicals education in high schools, such as reducing the obesity in todays kids and youth. I give this video a 4/5 because it just covers the basics which is very good but I believe they could have gone further.
4.This video is about the importance of physical education in curriculum and it also gives you many statistics. 5/5 because the video is mostly statistics which are good and shocking!
5.A video about an ex-physical education teacher who has coined the term "P.E. for Life". It also explains what he is doing on the situation of physical education's in schools. 5/5 because this video showed a great example of how we can get students exercising more with his help.
6.The topic of this video is "healthy schools, healthy minds". That is so true! Being healthy at school, such as having physical education, will lead to healthy minds. Kids and youth will be able to focus more during the classroom and they often have better behaviors when they have physical education. I give this video a 3/5. Even though this video is very long, it also focuses on how we need healthy bodies in schools, and we get that by P.E.
7.This video is about how simple and short physical education times will help in the classroom. I give this video a 5/5 because not only does it explain the benefits of physical education but it also gives quick exercise examples that can be done in the classroom. I will definitely be using their ideas in my classroom!
8.This is a video of an activity that students will do in some physical education classes. I give this video a 5/5 because I like how this activity will use the entire body and it has good outcomes, and this video explains all of that.
